Baby seals are dying for no reason. Every spring, seal pups anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months old are killed, their bodies left on the ice or in the ocean.
Most commercial sealing in Canada can only exist with government subsidies. Seal products are not in demand, but sealing continues.
